Botanical Art

Maiden Africa is introducing botanical fine-art to its product range, launching with a virtual “exhibition” by the talented local artist Ann Kerr. This exhibition will include only plants which are indigenous to Southern Africa.

Ann Kerr holds a BA Fine Arts Honours degree from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and taught art at schools including St. Johns, Roedean and Redhill in Johannesburg, and Principia and Waldorf in the Western Cape. Born in 1951, she lives on a farm close to the famous Babylonstoren Gardens. Ann uses artists’ grade watercolour to build volume on the images without losing luminosity and enhances details with pencils. As she steadfastly refuses to work from photographs, all of Ann’s works are drawn from live models.

Wendy (the founder of Maiden Africa) has always had a passion for plants and holds a Master’s degree in Botany. She has been looking to branch out into botanical art and is excited to be finally offering such quality pieces.

Originals, prints and greeting cards are available.
